these are quotes from people that have somethign to do with the future or the turn of the tide but it has to be in the 1,2,3 age of the sun!

Who said: "the witch king shall not be killed by Man"

Edit: Title edited to make the theme of the game clear - this game is for quotes which relate to future events.

Gandalf said that from words of old in the seige of Gondor.

tifo_gcs 04-01-2003 03:50 AM

I'm going to say Malbeth the seer, it seems like something he would say, but I'm in no way certain

Gil-Galad 04-01-2003 05:21 PM

tifo is correct Malbeth the seer said it first when Angmar came to power

Gil-Galad 04-02-2003 05:25 PM

Beren87 04-02-2003 05:29 PM

tifo_gcs 04-09-2003 01:34 AM

Once again sorry about that So I've taken the easier of the two quotes i was considering.
"...much sorrow and many lives of men shall pass, until the Dunedain arise and are united again"

Gil-Galad 04-09-2003 04:45 PM

Galadriel?

tifo_gcs 04-10-2003 02:13 AM

Gil-Galad 04-11-2003 08:29 PM

Gil-Galad 04-13-2003 05:27 PM

Gil-Galad 04-14-2003 05:10 PM

E-L-R-O-N-D?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

elven maiden Earwen 04-14-2003 05:48 PM

gil-galad calm down and give them a chance to reply. they might be busy, so just wait OK!

tifo_gcs 04-15-2003 03:02 AM

no not Elrond either, and just because I don't reply right away doesn't mean I'm going to frown on you if you come with another guess while you're waiting for my slow behind to drag my fingers to the keyboard ;-)
I'll give you hint. Its easy, but not because I expect you to know the quote off the top of your head...

Morgoth Bauglir 04-15-2003 06:14 PM

[ April 15, 2003: Message edited by: Morgoth Bauglir ]

Beren87 04-15-2003 08:23 PM

Malbeth isn't mentioned in the Silm.

I can't find it in UT, H, LotR, or The Silm. Nice quote!

tifo_gcs 04-16-2003 01:31 AM

Yes it's Malbeth the Seer. About 90% of all the quotes about the future are from him. which i hope explains my saying
Quote:

Its easy, but not because I expect you to know the quote off the top of your head...
The quote is from the appendixes to Return of the King, where the king of the Dunedain of the North flees from his hiding among the snow-men because the army if the Witch King approaches (can't remeber the name of the king right now), but his ship sinks and he dies. The first half of the quote talks about the King having a choice, and if he picks the one that seems the safest/easiest, then... "...much sorrow and many lives of men shall pass, until the Dunedain arise and are united again."
So Morgoth is quite right, and the buck has now been passed

Nice quote!
You flatter me, Beren87... i like it

Gil-Galad 04-21-2003 03:51 PM

Morgoth Bauglir 04-23-2003 03:27 PM

skip me please...sorry and thanks

Gil-Galad 04-23-2003 04:51 PM

Beren whoudl you plz go?

Gil-Galad 04-26-2003 06:28 PM

fine then i will go

"Come hither Mansbane! and get a new name!"

Gil-Galad 04-28-2003 05:35 PM

is my quote that hard?

Beren87 04-29-2003 04:23 PM

Well, considering it has nothing to do with the theme that you based this thread around, it's not even a viable qoute.

But, it was Eorl to Felaróf.

Gil-Galad 04-30-2003 04:22 PM

this was in 2nd age of sun i belevie and yes it was eorl to the horse that killed his father

Beren87 05-01-2003 04:19 PM

The topic of this game is supposed to be that of prophecy and quotes relating thereof.

Quote:

in the armour of fate (as the Children of Earth name it) there is ever a rift, and in the walls of Doom a breach, until the full-making, which ye call the End.

Gil-Galad 05-03-2003 09:47 AM

well are you gonan go or what? and it said 1,2,3 ages of sun and Eorl was in the second age SO CONTINUE THE THREAD

Beren87 05-04-2003 05:20 PM

I did continue the thread, it's the post right above your last.

And this game should be for prophecy and quotes dealing with the future only. If it's for quotes from the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd age of the sun then it's not a valid quotes game.

Edited to control my anger.

Gil-Galad 05-05-2003 10:46 AM

well the quote is put, it had soemthign becasue Eorl was riding Mansbane into the battle of the wold which gave him success and Gondor gave him land for his people

Beren87 05-05-2003 04:17 PM

I have no idea what you said or what its purpose was.

Here's the current quote, again.

Quote:

in the armour of fate (as the Children of Earth name it) there is ever a rift, and in the walls of Doom a breach, until the full-making, which ye call the End.

Gil-Galad 05-06-2003 03:49 PM

for your quote, i would say Aule or Manwe

(childeren of Earth: Dwarves created by Aule)

Beren87 05-06-2003 06:55 PM

Good educated guess! Bud sadly, incorrect.

Gil-Galad 05-11-2003 12:45 PM

Illuvatar? when he was talking to Aule about his creation of the Dwarves? or another time

Beren87 05-11-2003 05:46 PM

Nope, that's not it.

I'll give a hint though, it comes from UT.

Gil-Galad 05-16-2003 06:32 AM

give another hint?

Beren87 05-16-2003 09:56 PM

It's not by a man, elf, or dwarf.

Legolas 05-17-2003 11:43 PM

Ulmo, my chat nick's namesake, to Tuor.
