Where are they? It seems like a waste of time to register and then not post anything at all.

What's a burrahobbit got to do with my pocket, anyways?</p>

Ok, fine, I'll post...

You burrahobbits is stinky little things... Perhaps it's those feets...

Uh-oh... Where did my sandwich go? Heeeeeere sandwich sandwich sandwich...

There. I've posted. And, no, I don't want to have anything to do with your pockets. Unless of course you've got a sandwich in there.

Re: There are 18 registered users?

Well, I never did find my sandwich, or any sandwich for that matter, but I did find the time to create an icon. So I'm just making a test post to see if it works. Look! My noodles are done!

Qapla'</p>

Being in the mood to sit in the attic and swallow some dust, I've just found this - the oldest thread in this forum.

How do you feel now, when there are 18+ (and = by far at that)? And the whole bunch of people is now just as it was then - registered but not posting. Though attitude may be a bit changed - "thanks god they all are not posting at the same time"

Neferchoirwen 10-21-2002 07:38 AM

Ooooh. A piece of ancient history.
...and that's where it all started, folks.

Amanaduial the archer 10-21-2002 11:53 AM

wow the oldest thread in the forum... takes a few snapshots*

Far from the oldest, but it had been the longest since anyone posted to it. Sometimes I wish there were 18 again. Ooos and nonsense do nothing but make you look bad, especially on old threads. KenobiwanX is stupid, you don't want to be like him.

And they say we post useless things now!

HerenIstarion 10-22-2002 12:05 AM

Sorry to mistake you, it's from the May 30, (and board started sometime in the first decade, correct me burra if I err) just it was on the bottom of the first page, the oldest "last reply" thread in the forum for sure.

Kenobiwanx haven't appeared since, i deem - sensed he was conforming not to well with Tolkien discussion

Sorry, burra, if you were not pleased with this brought up, the title sounded so fascinating I could not stand up to temptation

burrahobbit 10-22-2002 01:53 AM

I know KenobianX, he only posted because I was badgering him about it. When I read what he posted I gave him a stern talking to. He posted like that to annoy me.

Now that I read the thread again I see that I mistook something myself, but that's ok.

I'm really not as bitter as I make myself out to be.

Elenna 10-23-2002 05:58 PM

Scary thought - we've gone from 18 members to 4714 members. Now, how many are fangirls?

burrahobbit 10-23-2002 06:04 PM

5

onewhitetree 10-23-2002 08:02 PM

Let's not give fangirls a bad rap. After all, we have had just as much trouble fromthe "oldies but goodies" since the influx, and if people would stop making the so-called gap such an issue, it would not be such an issue.

burrahobbit 10-23-2002 08:24 PM

onewhitetree is smart.

HerenIstarion 10-24-2002 12:40 AM

Amen

Elenna 10-24-2002 06:00 AM

Very smart. I didn't mean to offend - just the incredible "population explosion", if you will, since the movies came out sort of leads us to that question.

onewhitetree 10-24-2002 10:07 AM

Dare I mention that a certain Mod in question is, indeed in comparison, a relative newbie him/herself? One would hope that the meteoric rise of individuals such as these would provide a link between the "groups," rather than fueling polemics.

Elenna 10-24-2002 11:17 AM

I have no problem with new people. None at all - I like them! It's fun to hear new opinions. Don't take what I said that way.

And trust me, many people have been only too quick to inform me what a newbie I am.

onewhitetree 10-24-2002 11:51 AM

Glad to hear it.

Mlo 10-26-2002 08:48 AM

Whoa! Old...................... Didn't even know about Tolkien in thoose days... . Now I feel very ehrm, new...

Gayahithwen 10-29-2002 03:36 PM

I almost feel old. Since I am among the first 1000 people, it feels like I've been around for a while. I even knew who Tolkien was when this thread was first started! Wow! Hhhmmm.. Are there allready over 4000 members? I think I must have missed it.. *sighs deeply* I feel old, I feel old.. and I am still a teenager! :Þ

burrahobbit 10-29-2002 03:41 PM

Since December is not a long time.

Amanaduial the archer 11-11-2002 02:45 PM

hey, onewhitetree, elenna, break it up!

ooh! Pardon me burrahobbit, but that does sound rather bitter...

I must confess, when I joined up, I was more than slightly obsessed with the movies and with certain actors in it, although I dont discuss in the movies section really at all(RPGings my style). However I had a good deal of tolkien lore as well. Fan girls do boost the numbers though considerably- if you were to take a survey, I reckon there'd be way more females than males on this site. Even though alot of the much older members are male, like the barrow wight, Sharku and Mithadan. Yourself excluded there, Kate.

Sorry to burst your bubble, archer, but Kate's a boy.

Amanaduial the archer 11-11-2002 03:00 PM

kate...is....a....boy....

jeez, this is just one of those days...and one of those moments...ground,now would be a good time to swallow me up...

Oh, but it isn't. I know the guy personally, he is not right in the head.

Lush 11-11-2002 11:05 PM

burra is never bitter, but brief.

MoonDragon 11-13-2002 01:30 AM

Bwah hah hah hah

HerenIstarion 11-13-2002 01:39 AM

Welcome to the Downs, thou paragon of thoughtfulness in laconic, yet wise words May thy rest be peaceful and thy posting wise, Amen

MoonDragon 11-13-2002 02:16 AM

Whatever you say, Nelson!

Amanaduial the archer 11-13-2002 01:36 PM

brief and often very impressive in that he can sometimes put in the maximum cutting power into a few sentences...

welcome oh one of wise and wisdominical words Maul.

VanimaEdhel 11-13-2002 05:40 PM

I am proud to say that, although I was obviously not a member then, I was a big Tolkien fan back when this was posted! I have been a Tolkien fan since 1995, actually...and, being one of the fairly new members, I can honestly say that, while some pretend there is such, there is certainly not a big gap *clears her throat at a few nameless, condescending users*. The biggest gap is in our ages, as I am 15.

To reiterate: and we claim not to post random things !
