Clear your PMs, please
 

Could everyone please go through their PMs and delete the ones they no longer need. PMs are taking up an unnecessarily huge amount of space on the server.

Are we allowed to keep just a few? Or do we have to get rid of them all?

You can always save them on your computer as .txt files or something if you'd like to keep them. If you like the convenience of having them online (i.e. reading them anywhere you have access to a computer), Geocities has free accounts for storage for anyone.

Eeeek! This is scary! My dad told me today that I needed to go through all my files on the computer and get rid of the ones I didn't want/need anymore! I've been doing that for like two or three hours now. I finally got tired of it so I came here and look what I find! [img]smilies/eek.gif[/img] But fortunately for me I only have like 8 PMs in my profile. [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img]


Edit: Make that six. I just deleted two. I'm going to put the rest somewhere on my computer. Hopefully my dad won't mind me making just one little file.

Or you could set up your profile to have copies of PM's sent to your email. That's what I do. I've got zero PM's at the Downs, but a whole separate folder in my inbox overflowing with old messages I never read but can't bring myself to delete. [img]smilies/tongue.gif[/img]

You click on the "View/Update Profile" link and scroll down to "Your Preferences". There will be the option, Be notified by email when someone sends you a private message? And you, of course, choose "Yes". [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img]

Well, yes, the email is just a way to save the messages, so that you don't have old ones clogging up the Downs. You can delete them and still have a copy if you want to save them for any reason. But, you still need to receive and send your PMs here.

Thanks everyone for cutting those old PMs out. Please continue to do so as you get more. This doesn't mean you can't keep PMs. It's just that it would be best if you didn't keep very many.
