Problems

I can't go to the forum home! Whenever I click on the link, I get this message:

Quote:

FYI
Hack attempt logged: attempting to open topic file that is not in proper format.
When I go to the www.barrowdowns.com I get the same message. The only way I can navigate the site is if the page is open and I go to the menu listing on the bottom right hand corner.

Anyone else with this problem?

Estelyn Telcontar 11-24-2003 12:26 PM

Yes, this is the second time there have been problems today. Let's hope the Barrow-Wight and administrators can get it fixed soon...

piosenniel 11-24-2003 12:40 PM

I am getting this message now when I try to access the Main Page:

Content-type: text/html
Software error:
/home2/barrowwight/cgi-bin/ubb_whos_online.cgi did not return a true value at ultimatebb.cgi line 362.

Estelyn Telcontar 11-24-2003 12:44 PM

Try again - the forum main page should be accessible now. Please continue posting any further problems here.

piosenniel 11-24-2003 12:44 PM

Just rechecked - the Main Page is coming up fine now.

Thanks!

Imladris 11-24-2003 12:53 PM

It works! Thanks!

Mister Underhill 11-24-2003 07:09 PM

Thanks for posting the exact error messages!

Please do so again if any further problems occur -- the messages really help us track down the bugs.

Nilpaurion Felagund 11-27-2003 12:53 AM

Um...hey...my sister(Lhunardawen) is having problem opening her profile. Anyone else with that problem? Can it be solved?

The Barrow-Wight 11-27-2003 06:57 AM

PM me or Underhill with the specifics of your sister's account, and we'll see what we can do.

Lhunardawen 12-30-2003 04:33 AM

Sorry for having to have my brother post the problem about my profile. BW, what do you mean specifics? When I click on my profile, I get this message:

Software error:
/home2/barrowwight/cgi-bin/Members/user_ratings/00007087.cgi did not return a true value at /home2/barrowwight/cgi-bin/ubb_profile.cgi line 96.

What do I do? Thanks in advance!

Liriodendron 01-02-2004 12:03 AM

I am getting the "software error" message in the "my profile" area also. I was notified of a PM, but can't get to my private messages to respond to it. Any assistance will be appreciated.

mark12_30 01-02-2004 04:36 AM

Ah, I am not alone. I sent this bugReport earlier to the specified address, and so far nothing has happened; I was being "patient"... should I have sent it to a different email address?

Software error:
/home2/barrowwight/cgi-bin/Members/pm_topics/E/00008199.cgi did not return a true value at /home2/barrowwight/www/ubb/Templates/public_my_profile.pl line 232.
For help, please send mail to the webmaster (webmaster@forum.barrowdowns.com), giving this error message and the time and date of the error.

Lhunardawen 01-02-2004 06:06 AM

And I thought I was alone. It's quite encouraging not to be the only one with this problem. But I hope it would be solved.

The Barrow-Wight 01-02-2004 09:16 AM

Though it is important that we know about all errors, not all of them are as critical as others. Private Messages are a fun feature on the forum, but the forum continues to work with or without them, so PM errors (unless they affect everyone) often go to the bottom of the stack of things to do. They have now come to the top of the stack and have been corrected (hopefully).

Liriodendron 01-02-2004 09:17 AM

Stormdancer of Doom....your message to me was deleted, but I will send you one soon! Thank you BW.

No problem, BW. I've had my share of pesky bugs, and folk that want them fixed yesterday. THanks; PMs are back up and running. Kudos.

Luthien_ Tinuviel 01-10-2004 04:13 PM

I noticed another problem today, it's definately not crucial, but still rather odd. When I go to my profile and click "View Recent Posts", most of the threads that I'm listed as posting on recently are from at least last summer, if not older! And those certainly are not my most recent posts...

The Barrow-Wight 01-10-2004 04:23 PM

On occasion we have to reset the database form PM's to correct odd errors that occur. when we do this, it rearranges them alphabetically instead of chronologically. Unfortunately, this messes up your list, but each new post you make from now on will be in the correct order. Eventually we'll have to reset it again, so be aware that this will happen now and then.

I seemed to have picked up a cookie that I didn't want. Every time I click anything in the "Movies" forum, I get a pop-up to sign into "WaroftheRing.net". It doesn't happen in the rest of the Forum, though. I've just been cancelling out of it.

Child of the 7th Age 01-19-2004 02:09 AM

Ainur,

The exact same thing happened to me this evening, and I believe I posted immediately after you did on the Oscar buzz thread. It is repeatedly popping up when I read or post in the movies forum.

The pop-up says "Network password"

Please type your user name and password.

Site: .......warofthering.net
Realm: download
plus boxes to enter user name and password.

That pop-up for "Connect-to-www.waroftherings.net" is coming up for me in Movies - "Return of the King Oscar Predictions" and in The Barrow Downs - "Where is everyone from??" topics

We've had such a case before, and then like now it's a member's avatar being linked to an inaccessible remote page. No reason to worry, ignore it; member has been contacted.

Morgul Queen 01-19-2004 06:42 PM

I can't get to the main site page. When I go to www.barrowdowns.com

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'

Unspecified error

/includes/calendar.asp, line 8

comes up!

Everdawn 01-19-2004 11:36 PM

I see some others have had it, it's been there before i went on my holidays and it's still there when ive come back. It's not urgent but i cant get to my old messages to delete them.

Elrond of Rivendell 01-23-2004 03:20 PM

I had the same problem as Morgul Queen 1 hour ago when trying to access www.barrowdowns.com.

First error message:
Microsoft Jet Database Engine Error
80004005
unspecified Error
/includes/calendar.asp, line 8

Second error message: (on retry a little bit later)
MS VBScript runtime Error 8000a1fb
Exception occurred: 'open'
/includes/calendar.asp, line 8

Greetings,
EfR

Goldberry 01-23-2004 04:55 PM

I had the same problem as Morgul Queen and Elrond of Rivendell a few hours ago when trying to access the Barrowdowns main page:

Microsoft Jet Database Engine Error
80004005
unspecified Error
/includes/calendar.asp, line 8

This happened a few days ago too. It's not a big problem though, since it went away after a few hours.

The Barrow-Wight 01-23-2004 05:01 PM

The error:

Microsoft Jet Database Engine Error
80004005
unspecified Error
/includes/calendar.asp, line 8

is caused by server problems and does not need to be reported. If you wait awhile, it usually goes away. If it persists, then please drop a note here or e-mail me.

Thanks

Lhunardawen 02-07-2004 03:45 AM

I'm terribly sorry for the insistence, but I still can't access my profile. The same message still appears.

The Barrow-Wight 02-07-2004 07:34 AM

Your profile is now available.
