Calling all Ringbearers...

Has anyone noticed that our One Rings have a habit of slipping off and turning up in the strangest places?

Manwe Sulimo 02-18-2003 09:01 PM

You don't know the half of it! One time, I was walking home from this party. Only, in a drunken stupor, I had somehow lost my clothes. So, I grabbed my One Ring, put it on, and thought I would be fine walking home.

So, anyway, I was almost home, and I see a patrol car. Just as he pulls around the corner, the One Ring just...slipped off. So there I was, standing naked on the sidewalk as this cop pulls by. So, I got arrested for indecent exposure.

What has your Ring done for you lately?

Arwen_Evenstar 02-21-2003 02:58 AM

Mine went missing in science and it scared the crap out of me!!!! Then my teacher found it...not that eventful...

eleanor_niphredil 02-21-2003 03:47 AM

teachers seem to have a habit of finding, and keeping, one rings, dont they? My PE teacher has had it twice now, and says that next time, I dont get it back!

purplefluffychainsaw 02-21-2003 09:09 AM

Thats what ur's does! u should meet mine. This ultra fit elf nances into the room and it desided to go and sit on my finger. **Groans** I had to duck under the table to take it off so I didn't just appear and it wouldn't come off. When it eventually did he was gone! **Sulks**

Morgul Queen 02-25-2003 08:44 PM

No, seriously, mine had disappeared and I found it 3 hours later in my Underwear...NO JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Horse-Maiden of the Shire 02-25-2003 08:47 PM

I just got mine today and already it tried to get back to Sauron! it didnt disappear, but it tried to. Tricksy thing slipped off in English and tried to roll away on the floor...caught it though. Nasty tricksy rings they are!

good idea at the time 02-26-2003 06:43 AM

Yes, precious, we know all about tricksy rings, don't we precious? Yes, precious we do. We went to see the Two Towers, with Good Smeagol in it, didn't we, precious, and we takes the ring off precious, because we wants to be good Smeagol and let nice hobbit sitting next to us have a look at it. Precious tries to run from us, slips out of our fingers. We gets it back, but guess who sits behind us, precious? Guess who? It was a Black Rider. Yes, precious it was! 20 peoples all come dressed up, one even as Smeagol, precious! And the nassssty Black Rider sits right behind us! Poor Smeagol! But he didn't see the Precious! No, precious, he didn't!

Morai 02-27-2003 04:51 PM

I lost my ring, and it's still lost. (But I'm sure it'll turn up sooner or later)

Everdawn 02-28-2003 06:02 AM

Well! This one time i was like, walking in the city with some of my gals and we go into Wallace Bishop jewellers and like i put a ring on and suddenly... Im in the Michael Longley store... so i walk out and there is this wilderness around me, and horses and people dressed like Xena, in fact... Xena then rode up to me... and said.. "have you seen the Blue Griffin?" and im like... "no" and before she rides off she says "nice ring, Wallace Bishop?" and i say "yep" she rides off and i put the ring back on and im back in the store.. wierd huh?....

ok dont ask where i come up with these things...

Morai 02-28-2003 05:33 PM

Kinda funny how you imune system weakens when you lose the ring. Since I lost it, I come down with a nasty cold. Conincedence eh?

I have two One Rings! (Kind of an oxymoron, isn't it? ). So I guess that means that when I wear them both I'm invisible to invisble people! How cool!

dragoneyes 03-01-2003 09:18 AM

I don't have a ring, I have a bracelet, sort of similar. Anyway, this particular bracelet likes to undo itself and fall off at the most annoying times (while riding a horse has been the worst so far) so it has me checking whether it's there or not countless times during the day. Why, just the other day I was walking through my house when I checked on it and lo and behold! It was undone and caught in my jumper. Needless to say I did it up again, but then I proceeded to explain to it that falling off whilst in my own house was hardly the best way to get away from me. I think it came undone another three times in school that day, more than usual.

Mirabella 03-03-2003 02:28 AM

I am the keeper of the One Abolony-Shell Owl Neclas of Power,( :rolleyes and once or twice,it fell of while I was bike-riding and fond it that night in my sports-bra! (thank you, sports-bra!)

Kates Frodo Temp 03-04-2003 09:12 PM

I keep my temporary One Ring in my pocket on a chain through my beltloop, like my hero Frodo did before the "accident" at The Prancing Pony. I carry it everywhere, even to church, so lots of interesting things come up. I've never lost it yet, though!

Horse-Maiden of the Shire 03-06-2003 05:14 PM

Well, I had my Ring on its chain and it fell off while I was sleeping. Then in the morning I found my Ring underneath my sheet. Weird.

Morai 03-26-2003 11:05 AM

Well, my dad finally found my ring. Or maybe it found him.... Anyway, I noticed, that a knot somehow formed on the necklace, just above the ring, and it wasn't there before....

Mithril 03-26-2003 12:20 PM

I used to have a one ring, but it disappeared one day at school and I haven't seen it since. Now my class ring acts like a one ring, sometimes when I put it on in the morning, it's really loose, then it will be somewhat tight later that same day.

Firondoiel 03-27-2003 08:27 PM

Oooh, I know what you mean. I have a One Ring (Amazing how many people have the One Ring huh? ) and I was wearing it in the car once, and all of the sudden it just slipped off. My mom pulled over and I searched the car and I could not find the confusticated thing! When we got home my ring was found by the most unlikely person imaginable , my younger brother. He got in the car with a flashlight and found it under my seat in this little crack. He did let me have it back though.

NOOOOOO!!! I just bought a One Ring about 5 hours ago, before my Friday night art class. So, as it turns out, I have to throw on the wheel tonight. One of my friends in that class also had a One Ring that she kept on a chain. I couldn't wear my Ring while throwing, so I gave it to her for a while. By the time I had finished cleaning up the wheel, she had left! I will probably never see that Ring again... I don't, but I have a Ring of Fire (silver, with big square ruby). Well, the stone went lose, I was afraid I would loose it, so I gave the ring to mend. Now what do you think?! I lost the receit!

Saurannûn the Wood Elf 04-03-2003 04:07 PM

Mine lives around my neck on a chain, and I've never lost it. Ever. Knock on wood. . .

Ainaserkewen 04-07-2003 01:17 PM

NOOOO!! It's mine!! My own!!! My precioussssss!!! Tricksy Ainaserkewen wants Ring for him/herselfs!! But we musn't let him/her get it!

If Gollum had been as careful with the Ring as you our with yours there never would have been a LOTR!! But we must remember that the ring of power has a will of its own.

P.S. I think I've had too much caffeine!

Sword Maiden Of The Shire 04-09-2003 05:56 PM

OK, seriously, my ring always falls off my chain! And once, my dog, Frodo found it and I said "C'mon boy, hand it over" he ran all over the house followed by Merry, Pippin and Sam (leading). When he came to a dead end, he started to growl (you know how small puppies do when they play) and Sam jumped onto him and wrestled it out of his mouth. Anyway, Fodo, pinned him down for the first time.

.....Hmmm sounds like a movie I saw once...

(I have 4 dogs each named after the 4 Hobbits.....just so y'all don't think I actually have Hobbits running round my house!! If youy wanna know more 'bout em they're in THIS FORUM http://forum.barrowdowns.com/cgi-bin...&f=17&t=000539

Arvedui III 04-09-2003 06:06 PM

I have three one ring and tricksy friendes wants it, presious, but we gives it only to a nice hobbites who burns us nice CDs.

Eressië Ailin 04-09-2003 06:57 PM

Sword Maiden, I always love hearing about your dogs! There are so much like the real characters! Anyways, I should be getting my ring back sometime this week. I found an excellent chain to keep it on, but as I was reading this thread, I felt around my neck, and my chain was gone! Better start looking now...

Captin_Faramir 04-09-2003 08:11 PM

I have a One Ring (from a bookmark ) and I totally get "gollum" like. For example, me and my mom were sitting on the couch together, and all of a sudden my Ring fell on the floor. My mom got it before me and didn't give it back, so I was trying to get it back from her, you know, just playin. When all of a sudden I started to get mad, and I started to literally attack her. She threw it on the other side of the room and I ran for it. When I came back, I was perfectly normal. My mom even said I was foaming at the mouth . So a word of caution to you all...

Ainaserkewen 04-10-2003 02:40 PM

Just to let anybody know who's wondering, I am a girl!!! What kind of elvish name is Ainaserkewen for a guy, wait, don't answer that, after all, elves sexuality is kind of a floating cloud, as the book says. But I am female, hey, that gives me a good Idea for a thread, see ya!

Morai 04-13-2003 11:43 AM

There's this guy in my english class, and in my band class. Lately, he's developed this strange fasination with my ring. Every day he says " *My real name*, that ring is so cool! Unfortunately, he sits right next to me in English. Any day I forget to bring my ring to school (stupid me, forgets the preciousssss when me tired) he asks me where it is.

He kinda reminds me of Boromir. So...

Female Version of Frodo: Me
Boromir: Guy that fasinates with my ring
Gollum: My cat Snowflake (Seriously, she follows me around, always spying on the precioussss....)

Eressië Ailin 04-29-2003 09:41 PM

YAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!! I got my ring back today!!!!! *nances furiously* Now I will wear it for ever and ever and ev-- sorry. I'll shutup now.

Morgul Queen 04-30-2003 03:34 AM

THIS THING IS STILL GOING!!
*is in a state of shock*
Anyone else have the extended DVD. If you do think Bilbo in the new opening sequence and then imagine me doing that because I do do that. Actually I once had a major fit and...ah...kinda pushed all the furniture in the house on its side and emptied everything in the house till I found it...at the bottom of the washing basket

GaladrieloftheOlden 05-07-2003 04:47 PM

I've done that too, in my room, except it was my mood ring (hey, still the one ring), and it was under the bed
