Valinor and the Grey Havens

I need to get this straight. You sail west, towards the Grey Havens, correct? And after the Grey Havens is Valinor, right?

Only immortals can go to Valinor, thus Frodo went to the Grey Havens and stayed there. Is this correct?

Actually, Frodo went to the Grey Havens and sailed to Valinor, where he stayed until he died. Bilbo and Sam also went to Valinor, since they were the other ring-bearers, and Gimli was allowed to go with Legolas. But going to Valinor didn't grant them immortality. They were allowed to stay there until they died. Hope this helps!

Most often, the Elves were the only ones who sailed West, because they grew tired of all the misery, death, destruction, etc. that went on in Middle-earth. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule. If a mortal did something extraordinary, and was in dire need of healing, then with the grace of the Valar, they could sail West also, and reach the Undying Lands. That is why Frodo was able to go.

The grey havens is where those who are sailing west sail from. It is the harbour at which the elven boats were berthed.

The Grey Havens, or Mithlond, is the realm over which Cirdan the Shipwright, a Telerin Elf, presided for many years. In the Third Age, it was the chief place of departure for Elves who wished to sail across the Great Sea from Middle Earth and live with their kin in the Undying Lands, forsaking the mortal world.

Theoric, you seem to have mixed up the Grey Havens with Tol Eressea, the Lonely Isle, the first place a ship would see coming from the Grey Havens to Valinor. That is presumably where Frodo abode after he made the journey from the Grey Havens.

I have always had the doubt if Galadriel went to dwell to Aman, where she was born, or was she forced to be in Eressea????
