Can you imagine if the Palantir Network (which is mentioned in my profile's location)could pick up anything. Imagine that. I'm sure Saruman got the urge to listen to the oldies on his Palantir when Sauron wasn't at home. This is open for what the characters would do if they had one of the Seven Stones. Just assume the Stones can pick up any kind of signal.

Pippin: "Okay, contact 'Pizza Hut...'

Frodo sits down to his dinner. No sooner has he lifted his fork and knife than the palantir starts ringing: 'Oh, curses!' Answers palantir 'Hello?'
Voice at other end: 'Hello, is that a Mr Baggins? This is Susan from Tookville Double Glazing, can I ask you how old your house is?'

I can see the same scenario with Bilbo and the Sacksville Bagginses. Bilbo picks up the palantir only then to hear yelling and screaming from the other line. He then holds it away from his ear and slams it on the table. "Cursed In-laws, never giving me a moments peace!"

In The Two Towers, I always liked the chapter, "The Palantir". I always laugh when Sauron is expecting to see or talk to Saruman, and finds this little Hobbit. It`s kinda like getting the wrong number, isn`t it? [img]smilies/wink.gif[/img] [img]smilies/tongue.gif[/img]

Aragorn to Arwen: ...I've got to go now.
Arwen: I won't hang up until i hear you say it.
