Aragorn's scar

Hi all. Has anyone ever noticed, when they do close-up shots of Viggo, that he has a scar that runs from above his top lip across his lip? Is it a real scar? I know they've come a long way in the ways of makeup magic, but something like that would be too much to maintain. Anyone else noticed it or know anything about it?

hmmm... thats interesting, but no I haven't noticed it, I'm gonna look for it next time I see the movie though.

I don't think this is it, but once they were doing a fighting scene and a sword knocked a tooth out. He asked if they could super glue it back in so they could finish the scene. It might have cut his lip, but I'm not sure. It's on the FOTR DVD. You may want to check the close-up shots of Aragorn in the first movie before any sword fighting scenes and see if it's there.
[ December 28, 2002: Message edited by: My Cat Sasha ]

Oh my! I've certainly noticed it!. It's particularly visable whe he is talking to the depressed Boromir that first night in Lothlorien. Other times I don't see it as much, I prefer him without it, but will happily take him ANY way I can get him. He seems to get arm wounds alot!

I thought it was his own scar, it just looked like he was a more war-worn ranger.
Burzdol

It's his own scar. I think he got it while filming some movie a while back, and the editing team decided not to edit it out because it made him look more worn and weather-beaten.

Everdawn 06-27-2003 01:34 AM

Yeah, i think it's his. I saw it and it reminded me of Jaoquin Phoenix's scar.

Meela 06-27-2003 05:55 AM

The scar on his upper lip is from a drunken Halloween night when he was 17 years old. "A combination of a fist and a barbwire fence," the actor claims.

Finwe 06-27-2003 08:33 AM

Eck! Talk about pain!!!! I had no idea that he crashed into a barbed-wire fence and got THAT!

Everdawn 06-28-2003 12:46 AM

Barbed wire fence... hmmm, not that uncommon here. LOL! Good for him! he must have been pretty off his face.

Horse-Maiden of the Shire 06-28-2003 12:39 PM

I've never noticed it. Barbed wire?!?!? *shudder* Ouch.

Nehani 07-16-2003 11:48 PM

Well, at least he didn't get the scar on his face somewhere else! Never goes away them, and is quite distinguishable. But I haven't noticed it, I think. It's too late to be thinking that hard. I'll have to go look at that.

Elentári 07-17-2003 06:13 AM

Hmm no, I haven't noticed it...I'll have to go and look...
Has anyone seen Orli's spectacular scar down his back? It's incredibly impressive, I must say...

Meela 07-17-2003 08:12 AM

I saw it in Midsomer Murders, and boy did it freak me out! I wasn't expecting it to be that big.

Finwe 07-17-2003 08:48 AM

Oh yes. I remember that one. He got it when he fell two stories onto a concrete floor and broke a couple of vertebrae. The doctors said that he might never walk again, but after an operation, two days later, he walked out calmly. Go Orlando!!!!

Nehani 07-19-2003 08:24 PM

You would think he would still be in pain today. Maybe not..

Everdawn 07-20-2003 02:21 AM
