Return of the King...Where was Ghan-Buri-Ghan

Now how could they have left out Ghan-Buri-Ghan in the movie lol...I was wanting to see what he looked like in the mind of PJ <P>I kept expecting him to pop out from amoung the stones when the Rohirrim were heading to Gondor's aid.

Who is Ghan-Buri-Ghan? It's been a while since I've read ROTK.

Ghân-Buri-Ghân was a tribal cheiftan of the wild men of the Drúadan forest. He and his people guided Theoden through the forest so they could get to Minas Tirith in time.

Thanks for the info. I truly don't remember that part, I don't know why?

Thengal he doesn't have a HUGE part in the book although he does appear it in more than one place. (He is also in the Chapter "Many Partings") *wonders if he'll be in the extended version*

There was a member cast for Ghan's role, but it's questionable at best as to whether or not they shot the scenes with him. I would guess not, since they sort of wanted to stay with Gondor and almost have you forget that Rohan was on the way until they showed up in that powerful moment of the movie. (Shivers, even now!!) Since Theoden consulted with Ghan about how to get to Gondor, I'm guessing they would have left it out. But, as Dennis Miller says, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

^really? I didn't get that impression at all, (that they wanted you to forget that Rohan was on it's way) but maybe that's cuz I didn't forget it in the slightest bit lol. But I'm going to see it again on Tuesday so I'll see if I get that impression when I think of it like that.

Knight of Gondor, I think the thing you said about them wanting you to forget about the Rohirrim (and Aragorn, as an aside) is fair. however, for the EE PJ knows it'll be hardcore fans who'll buy it, and most likely book readers. So? Well they know Theoden is on his way anyway, and no amount of film technique is going to get that out of their mind (especially because we'll all be looking forward to the Ride of the Rohirrim), so why not include Ghân-Buri-Ghân? That's my thinking, anyway. There was a semi-tribute, though. Anyone notice the stone pikka man Elrond rode past- there's an essay in Unfinished tales about how it was ME lore they could turn themselves to stone. I thought that was a nice tip of the cap.
