Why didn't Cate Blanchett recieve an Academy Award?
I thought Cate Blanchett did an awesome job in FOTR. He voice is smooth and creepy, and so.......Elven! Just tell me weter you agree, I'd appreciate it!
|
Actualy, I think that Cates acting left something to be desired, room for improvement. Not that I could do better...
|
Cate was perfect as Galadriel. Her voice, her appearance, her acting...everything. But the problem I feel is that her role was very stiff. It didn't really call for her to show a lot of emotion (with the exception of Frodo offering her the ring). I think people go more on an actor(tress)'s ability to really move their audience; and Galadriel just didn't have that effect.

Uh christina, I dont really agree, but thats just me.

Just simply too small of a role, that is basically why she would not, and should not get nominated. I have never heard of someone getting the academy award for being on screen for about 5 minutes or less. Even though she was on for longer during FOTR.
|
why would she ever? hardly a starring role. i mean, in ttt she was like 5th on the credits list and she had 1 line
|
Yes, it's true that she really didn't have that big of a role in the movie. But I thought she did really well. It's too bad her role wasn't bigger, because then she would maybe have received more recognition...but then that would have been messing with the book more than has already been done...and I don't think that would have been worth it!

Hmm I don't think she should have recieved one. She did do a wonderful job, but like everyone said, her role wasn't that big.

quote:
Why didn't Cate Blanchett recieve an Academy Award?

She didn't deserve any! Or maybe it's because of the Stonecutters- no, wait, that was the oscars. No, but really as others have said, her role wasn't that big. And besides that, not everyone thinks she did a perfect job, myself included. I really don't think she that great of an actress as Galadriel. And you'd also have to look at the competition she would be facing if they decided to nominate her.

Personally, I think the "Galadriel goes cuckoo" scene is one of the worst in the movie. Probably not Cate's part for the most part, but that scene was *way* overdone, it should have been a much more subtle thing, and not the subject of those goofy special effects.
On the other hand, I think that the scene where Galadriel was reading the Fellowship's thoughts was very well done. But certainly not enough for an Academy nod in any case.

Cate was great in portraying Galadriel. But her role was not 'human' enough. I mean her role did not have human emotions, she was a very 'holy' person/elf in the movie.
And the movie concentrated more on the adventure of the story and it did not emphasize on her (cate blanchett) character's feelings, opinions, personality---you know, 'person' stuff. And I think the academy goes for those kinds of acting.i think they prefer the realism of the character.
I can't explain it(if anybody of you can't understand me). Its in the tip of my tongue... whatever...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't heard of an actor/actress nominated for their skill in acting in a 'fantasy' movie (i.e. Star Wars; LOTR; Dune; Harry Potter; Dungeons & Dragons).
|
i'll tell you why it's because the award people and my dad are idiots
|
I know about Judi Dench, but I recall that she was in Shakesphere in Love for 15 minutes, not 5.
I still don't think Galadriel's role was large enough to merit any awards, but it was performed wonderfully.
[ February 22, 2003: Message edited by: Gorwingel ]
