I have a cute lil' error I found in the Fellowship
Okay. In the scene where the ringwraiths are chasing Arwen on their horses, and they do a faraway shot, there are only 8 nazgul riding, not 9 as there is supposed to be. And also look closely in the scene where the ringwraiths ride through bree, before they come into the inn. You can see, just for an instant, one of their faces !!

Yeah! and i just noticed that when they leave Rivendell they take Bill, on the pass of whatever it is, when they are on the snowey mountain there is no Bill the Pony, and when they end up at Moria There Bill is again.. wow, Bill must have a ring of his own.
|
And is it me or are there only 7 of the 9 Ringwraiths when they reach the river? Seriously I could only count out 7, so my question is where were the other 2?

It could have been just a rope and no pony. In my experience with horses there is only one thing that I can think of that would cause Bill not to be put in that scene intentionally and that is snow. It is not that horses don't like it, it is that ice can build up on the bottom of their hooves and they could slip and fall and that would be a really big mess. Although Bill is with them on the edge of the clif when Saurman brings the mountain down on their heads but that was a more controlled environment maybe.

Ah, the mystery of the dissapering pony. A popular game between my brother and I is 'spot Bill'. Also, you see that no one bothers to hide Bill when the crebain fly over. Sometimes Bill wasn't there, like in the Midgewater Marshes, because Sean Astin was holding a rope with someone from the production crew on the end.
And as for the Ringwraiths, (this may not apply) but in some parts not all the Ringwraiths are present intentionally. But maybe the chase-wraith had to stop to get a fly out of his eye?

You can also see the face of a blackrider when he knockes over one of the hobbits bed in a fury at Bree, except in the extended version. They corrected the 'face mistakes' in the extended VHS/DVD.

About bill not being on Caradhras:
The location where that scene was filmed was only reachable(Is that even a word?) by helicopter, so it would have been hard to bring a pony along.
Namarie

Also, the whole "We must get off the mountain, make for the Gap of Rohan, etc etc" scene was filmed on a set indoors, and it would have been extremely difficult to have a pony along in there. Also, the false snow would have been an irritant to its skin.

I suspect they had it up there but it didn't make it into the final film.
H.C.

I'd be sick of editing that movie by then, wouldn't you?
If I may be so rude to say so, close your mouths, sit back and take...and enjoy the show.

Durelin: Ah, but some feel the need to get some things off their chest. 7 Ringwraiths instead of 9 is rather major compared to some other nitpicks some people have brought up. If it bothers you than, if I may be so rude: Don't read posts that have to do with nitpicking.
[ July 28, 2003: Message edited by: The Only Real Estel ]
