I have relatives in Katala, Georgia (it's close to Columbus) and I've been down there a few times. |

First of all, I'd like to thank Numenorean for the link to this great essay. It examines the theory that Tom is the reader embodied in ME. Here it is. (http://tolkien.cro.net/else/bbeier.html) ... |

I wish I had a digital camera so I could send in a picture. But sadly, I probably won't have one for a very long time. PP (Post-Post): I don't see the resemblence between Balin999 and EW either.... |

I agree with you, I believe Tolkien made Tom as an enigma for us to wonder about. I think he's one of a kind. The only label I can think of is to call him a Bombadil. |

I agree with Horse-Maiden of the Shire, before, he didn't know about them (where they were, who had them), but after so long he learned where and who had them hence allowing him to control him. Of... |

I believe that the other "force" is fate, hence it was Boromr's destiny to go and the destiny of the Fellowship to break. |

I completely agree with Dynaviir. They added a whole lot of little things (that I thought were pointless changes) when they could have put in the right stuff like Gandalf confronting Saruman. Also,... |
