Very good. I do think that Frodo, at least, had some idea of what he was getting into, if only because Gandalf told him all about the history of the Ring and et cetera.

I agree with this too. It seems that none of the hobbits really
wanted to go on the Quest, but rather they felt obligated to do follow Frodo in what he had to do.
And in regards to the Shire...
