No, I'm pretty sure that they do have 3 heads each. At first I was confused because I have a Tolkien encyclopedia and it said 6 heads (that's why I originally said 6 heads) but I didn't think that was right and I checked in the RotK (the direct source! [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] ) Maybe you found it in the same place I did. My encyclopedia has a few mistakes in it that I have found, though. Here is what the RotK says:
