I do know a lot of people that have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to LOTR. My sister for example. I'll start talking about the movie and when I name a character, she's like "Who?" and I have to describe the actor or actress to her.
Luckily I have other friends who know something about it. One of my friends knows enough about it to know when he saw TTT that I would be mad about Faramir in the movie.
