Here's another Moria re-write:
Boromir muttered under his breath, but the echoing stone magnified the sound to a hoarse whisper that all could hear: 'In the deep places of the world! And thither we are going against my wish. Who will lead us now in this deadly dark?'
All eyes turned to Gandalf, who stood looking gravely into the shadows. After a long pause he spoke: 'Don't look at me, you halfwits: I did my bit getting you in here. How you get to the other side is your own concern.'
And with those words the old Wizard strode off into the darkness, leaving the company dumbstruck. He held his staff aloft, and from its tip there came a faint radiance, which gradually faded into the gloom.
