My edition is 1978. (Eecch! It's older than I thought it was.) It may very well be corrected in later prints. If somebody who has a more recent edition would care to chime in...

But now I'm more confused about the issue at hand. If he was in his tweens, would he be older than 12, but he could not be still considered a "child" if he was much older than 12? (I have to go get my FOTR back!!!)
