I was wandering about the village and its defenses? Are the buildings wooden or stone and is the village walled or fenced in, in anyway?

In my post I called Astalder's house a cottage, as I was thinking of english medevil cottages with stone walls and thatched roof's with wooden stables. I chose stone buildings as most of the villagers I assumed would be gondorian, but If you see the village as having wooden structures more like those of Edoras, let me know.

I know that this may not seem important but it helps to make the writing more descriptive.
