Farien heard the commotion but dimly through her despair, but Telmir perked up his ears and listened.
"I hear a woman..." he whispered to Emilia. Her eyes were wide in her pale face as she nodded that she'd heard it too. "Something's happening!" Telmir's voice rose in volume and pitch.
Emilia shushed him, holding a finger to her lips. Arrin, sitting by his knee mimicked Emilia's gesture and said in a whisper, "quiet, Telmir, orkes will hear you."
Telmir swallowed his excited words, something was happening, someone was coming! He shook the limp form of his sister Serra again. Why wouldn't she wake up? Telmir was beginning to panic, she had to wake up! She moaned in response to his shaking, but her eyes never opened.
A whimper escaped Telmir's throat. He didn't know what to do... he didn't know! Arrin said again, louder, "Telmir! Orkes!" Swallowing his fear, he nodded.
"They mustn't hear us, we mustn't bother them." he said softly. Emilia nodded in agreement. But their silence was broken as the youngest of Iavas' sons opened his mouth in a loud howl. Telmir and Emilia looked at each other in horror, surely the orcs had heard that!
