Farien struggled vainly as the orcs overwhelmed her family again. Her last thought before collapsing into darkness was that at least Telmir was safe.
Eregiath fought on a little longer, till the rusted blade of the battered orc sword snapped in two. Suddenly finding himself defenseless he was quickly overwhelmed. The man watched helplessly as ropes were tied around Farien's arms and legs, and around the wrists of his two tiny daughters. Soon they were all bouncing along the rough road again, being carried back to captivity and death among the nasty creatures. Eregiath exchanged glances with one of the captive soldiers.

Telmir's dreams were troubled. Multifaceted eyes gleamed in every shadow. Emilia's mother came and went, uncaring of what happened to them. The babies cried and he had nothing to feed them. Telmir stirred and cried out.
He felt hands holding him, a girl's voice spoke as they stumbled along. Telmir couldn't tell where they were going. He didn't know the girl who was carrying him. He struggled to stay conscious, but failed, slipping back into his terrifying dreams.
