Khôrbar trudged on for a while more, stewing a bit at the other's mistrust of him. He had been more up-front with the group than it seems that the members were. He would not have lied to them, had they asked him a question about his personal life. Yes, he was vague, but he did not lie. This mission seemed to have been composed of lies and deceit. How could these people live this way?
And this new development with Airerûthiel was strange to him as well. He understood why the girl told her what she did, but he could not, for the life of him, figure out why she kept this information from her sworn allies in this quest.
The group moved on until sunset, then on the next morning. They were reaching their destination and they were now merely three or four days away from this goal. Khôrbar then realized that he did not know what he was leading this group into peril for. He did not much care now, anyway. If all else failed, he could slip into the shadows, as he was wont to do when things became difficult.
