Thanks Dûndurion, I can see where you are coming from a little better now. the bit about the Rhythm makes some sense, but I would say, based on the personhood asserted in the text, that he would have to be both. Eru is the creator and sustainer of the universe - created the rhythm and is present in the rythm.
