For example, we watched Forrest Gump and said "great movie" and then read the book it was based on and pretty much said "not as good". Whereas we'd all read the book Matilda before and said "great book", then watched the movie version and said "crap movie version".<br> <br> So I think everyone here, having already read the LotR will probably think the books are better than the movies (not necessarily that the movies are bad in their own right, just that the books are better as the LotR).
