Gollum? Comic relief? I don't think that's possible! I mean, he's Gollum! And from what we've seen of Gollum in the first movie, he will be spectacular. Also, keep in mind that Gollum isn't complete CGI. They did use Andy Serkis to help simulate Gollum's movements so that it'd look more realistic, whereas Jar Jar is, well, Jar Jar. (And I say that with extreme distaste for what is, obviously, the ruination of a great set of movies.)
