Well, I heard that either Peter Jackson, or one of the computer animators quoted as saying that Jar-Jar wasn't worth to sniff Gollum's *ehem, excrement, ehem*. I didn't like the language he used, so I supplemented. But they've made a lot of strides since Jar-Jar. I never saw Phantom Menace anyway, so I wouldn't know, except for fleeting glimpses in Wal-Mart.
