The part where he says "My. Captain. My King," reminds me of that poem by Walt Whitman, but in reverse, if you get me. The poem is called "O Captain, My Captain" or something like that. It was written as a tribute to Abe Lincoln. The similarity struck me at the time. (I think it also applies to other parts of the movie as well...)
