One point which I find fascinating about the Hobbits is the trait which differentiates them the most from the elves. Hobbits, as endearing, generous and noble as they are, tend to lack imagination. I wonder if this derives from the fact that they have been sheltered for the most part from the evils elsewhere in Middle Earth or if it represents something important in terms of Tolkien's mythology.
