Ouch! (poor Frodo). Interesting that both Frodo and Sauron lost a finger because of the ring. And again, I too am glad that Elrond's plan was carried out. I just wanted to see if anyone else could think of another possible way. (For example, Glorfindel suggested the possibility of sending the ring back over the sea or throwing it into the sea, but Gandalf counseled against it. And Boromir suggested someone putting it on).
