Tolkien Tolkien's Writings

I was wondering, all you die-hard Tolkien fans who have read the books bazillons of times (or even a few ) , how have Tolkien's writings influenced you? Have they motivated you to write a book/story? Have they changed your life in any way? Have they inspired you to enlarge your view on life? Replies would be greatly appreciated!

In my case, I've tried to write fantasy, but I guess I am too self-critical and don't have enough patience. Tolkien's writings (especially his awesome descriptions of surroundings)have helped me to look at and appreciate nature in a whole new way.

See ya,
