This is what happens when you post in your lunch hour, with no access to the books you need! I must stop doing it. Basically, as Garth shows with numerous quotes in the Great War volume, the TCBS did feel they had something equivalent to a 'divine' mission to bring the world (or at least the English
) back to what they believed we had been. They would do this through Art. literature, poetry, music, & if necessary, through their example of self sacrifice in the war.
I will dig out relevant quotes when I get home - they may surprise some people.
