Uien and Falowik
‘Or so is my hope . . ." Derufin said, his grey eyes twinkling kindly. Uien smiled and returned his look, her heart full.
"It is more than a hope, Derufin, my friend." She looked to Falowik, who watched her with his steady gaze, his expression and eyes speaking his heart to her. She turned to Derufin again. "That which you saw flower of a sudden between Falowik and me, has ripened and grown strong as a young sapling." She looked long and steady on Derufin, her own face the embodiment of completion. "I will not go over sea. I will remain with Falowik as long as life remains in both of us."
She squeezed Falowik's hand, whose eyes widened, then closed as he shook his head, caught in wonder at his good fortune.
"I am the luckiest man alive," he said.
Derufin grinned. "That happenstance falls to me, Falowik, for Zimzi and I are to be wed."
Falowik laughed. "I will not argue the point. I wish you both great happiness for all your days!"
