With regard to the Silmarillion second edition, I ordered a while ago, but shipment was delayed. Barnes&Noble, rather foolishly, said on their site that this Second edition would be available by May. After the relatively long delay, I checked The Hougton Mifflin site and it said the books would only be published by April 15th.
I must say that I didn't admit any "real" changes in this edition. What T-E quoted sounds everytyhing but impressive, as I am sure you will agree. What makes you think the parentage of Gil-Galad would be something that was in special need of repare?
