Before I write my follow-up, I'd really like to know (1) what injuries Carthor has; (2) how he was rescued from the wreckage and who did the rescuing; and (3) how he was conveyed to the refuge. This may be/will be very important for framing Lissi's reaction.

Does anyone know that the Dwarf mines are abandoned? Although the King didn't say that there were Dwarves there, he did say that food and supplies would be. Just hearing that, someone would assume there are Dwarves, too. Was the King deliberately disingenuous? If anyone knows that there are no Dwarves, who would that be?
