Seems a little harsh ( especially for the double post ) but it doesn't actually constitute an abuse of the system. Personally, I think that it is more valid to use it for these technical infringements than as a way of punishing people who happen to disagree with you.
On the bright side, you at least got reasons so you shouldn't develop a repetitive fault
and it may encourage you to raise your game to prove the critics wrong (ie get better not bitter). I assume that the downers who do choose to give neg rep, are intending to be constructive rather than vindictive so try to see it in that light. It is a serious board and sometimes we need a wake up call ( and I say that as a past recipient
).
