Is John Howe one of the "nine mortal men doomed to die" too? I thought it was just Alan Lee...*checks* You're right. They both are there, one from the end of each side. John Howe one from the right, Alan Lee one from the left (if I'm recognizing them correctly).

I've watched FOTR about 50 something times and I didn't even notice Alan Lee and John Howe! How stupid do I feel?

Actually the only reason that I recognized them was because there's a pretty big picture of the nine men in the book Weapons & Warfare that I have. It's a lot easier to spot them in a still photo.
