Essentially, the baddies are already a part of the *main plot*, though distantly. At this point, the reason they are heading east from Mordor is basically to do some *tormenting*. After we make the 'time jump' in the game, then the baddies will really enter the main plot, as the seige will have started/will be about to start. At some point before or right after the time jump, it might be that the baddies are called back from their raidings, as they prepare to assemble a large enough force to destroy Eregion and start marching across the rest of Eriador.
How does that sound? I'm open to anything.
And speaking of *tormenting*...
