Then why does Akallabeth talk about the Numenoreans sailing east and glimpsing "from their high prows the Gates of Morning in the East"? Sil. p.263 (Houghton Mifflin HB). Also, it discusses the Dunedain sailing West after the fall and coming to "new lands" and saying "all roads are now bent." Sil. p. 281.
Am I looking at the wrong Akallabeth? I know there's another version but CT doesn't go into detail about it other than to say it appears to be a later conception.
