Failed to protect Erebor against a Draconian invasion and ended up having his head autographed by a Goblin. How ignominious is that?

His efforts on the island have been characterised by equally appalling incompetence. He's an embarassment to his son and grandson, neither of whom wants to be associated with him, and so he's holding the Dwarf tribe back. He should go now without further ado.
