Master vs Servant? I prefer 2nd in command personally. Like Aragorn when Gandalf's around. Pretty good job security, the head guy almost always gets killed first, then I can take over, but usually not permanently. There's power but not quite as much responsibility. Out of the two, I'd have to be Frodo though. I wouldn't be able to let someone else do the hardest work. I'm probably going to get mobbed for this, but something about Sam's always sort of annoyed me. He's too much of a servant I guess. He needs to grow a personality independent of Frodo.
