Just as everything to the East of Rhovannion and Mordor is Rhûn- meaning East.
Khand, which is situated between the two, and during the days of Ostaher and Eärnil acted as a mediator between them, is apparently only the approximate area covered by the word "Khand" on the map- the meaning of the word "Khand" being unknown, as well as what tongue it belongs to.
How far east and how far south Rhûn and Harad extend is not known. Presumably a good ways, at least as far as Middle-Earth extends northward or southward towards the seas. Rhûn is known to have extended as far east, at least, from the Iron Hills as the Iron Hills were from Mt. Gundabad.
