I was rather disappointed by the movie Legolas. And after the Orli-mania I didn't even like him anymore.
In the books he is strong, sharp-sighted and well, I just liked him, though he wasn't my favourite character.
In the movie he's just a more or less good looking guy, he's nothing special, just a companion. And I think it's rather sad that there are so many people who just watch the movies because of him and don't even care about the story or the books.
And, another point, you don't really become aware of the friendship between Gimli and Legolas in the movies. In the movies, Gimli reminds me of Steve Urcle, and Legolas is his intelligent but not-so-funny companion.
So, at that point, P.J. has not done good work.
