But he didn't kill an enemy now did he? Plus it's irrelevant that it's a hobbit. The point is he was too narrrowly focused and glorying in himself. Had he simply finished the job quickly and not given time for Merry to sneak up on him. It's a bloody battlefield why shouldn't he think about somebody coming up behind him. Plus you've never satisfactorily answered me about him merely being a pawn to the will of Sauron.
