Choosing the book was pretty easy for me.
The carved wooden statue- did anyone pick that? It's wood, not even expensive stuff. And it's a statue. Wow. Really useful.
Gold and jewels are nice, but then there's plenty of that. Worry about gold and jewels later.
The jewel encrusted harp- I'd pretty much ignore that. I love music, but I wouldn't think about grabbing some fancy instrument before taking care of more important things.
I would also ignore the shrine to the forgotten deity at first. What the point? It's a shrine. And obviously the deity wasn't even worth remembering, seeing as it's "forgotten" now.
The many faceted cold jewel- that would catch my eye before the other gold and jewels because there is only one. It might hold some useful power.
The strangely glowing sword would certainly catch my eye. It's always good to have a sword, particularly if it's powerful/magical or whatever. But first, I would...
...look at the dusty tome. It's the only choice. First, it might tell you about the other items in the room. For instance, it might say, "The sword resting in this chamber is the Accursed Sword of The Barrow-Wight, and it will stick to your hand and not allow you to sleep or eat until you have used it to kill a dragon."
You'd feel pretty stupid if you grabbed the sword first and then read the information. And the same thing goes for the other items. If there is anything you need to know about things in the chamber, the book would be where to find it.
Also, the book might be powerful in and of itself. Maybe it has some awesome spells recorded in it, or gives the location of something valuable or powerful, or maybe it just has some forgotten history recorded in it. For me, the book was the clear choice.
On another note, I retook the D&D test several times and tried different combinations of answers each time, because some of the questions had a couple answers that worked for me and it was tough to decide between them. If I'm remembering right, I came up as one of these at least once- "Elf Mage Bard", "Human Fighter Mage", "Human Mage Bard", and "Elf Fighter Mage".
So, as you can see the answers did change my Race and Class a bit. However, EVERY single time I came up "Lawful Evil". The "Lawful" I don't have much of a problem with, but what answers to what questions do you think caused me to come up evil rather than good?
