If you are speaking of the connection to Middle-earth, then I completely agree with you. I also feel connections to our past that is reality. I wanted to say, that in a rational/realist sense,
Squatter made an excellent post, and is right. But what I was speaking of initially was more of a spiritual/mental thing. How Middle-earth and it's characters live within our minds, and in a sense transcends reality...
