All the time.
In a sense, it is real. Tolkien did write Middle Earth to be a Europe of long ago, or so I have heard, so we could technically say that we are Middle Earth's descendants. At least, the men are pretty realistic. Those sorts of lost kings and steward types probably really existed. A lot of Middle Earth is a possible reality.
