I'm not sure if PJ could give Sauron Morgoths 'mace' as in the Silm. it states:

Unless 'Hammer of the Underworld' is only a descriptive term, Saurons mace is probably a different weapon to Morgoths Grond, cant be sure though... Ted Nasmiths interpretation of Grond
