Excellent summary, Alfirin, and welcome. As I am no horticulturist or arborist, I would be flippant if I attempted any descriptive exposition. However, you can add pipeweed (nicotiana, tobacco in description) to your list of plants, as well as athelas (kingsfoil, an herb by all accounts), and lebethron (a black wood) to the discussion on trees.
