I guess I'm an idealist. LOTR is clean of compromises. Innocent. There is a right choice. Usually I've found there's no clear path, or all choices are mixed. The LotR is a bath, washing clean of the politics I deal with, day in and day out. The mountains.. I can put on my backpack and retreat, hike for five days in the Cascades, where I hear nothing but the rivers and waterfalls cascading in my mind, and I return to civilization dirty, half-wild and free.
