iAs far as I know we are never told explicitly. It could be that Celeborn wished never to leave Middle-Earth and so felt his parting with Galadriel was till the end of the World.
Or it could be that he knew it would be a long time before he departed.
Oddly enough, he left Lothlorien and went to Southern Mirkwood and we hear in the tale of Aragorn and Arwen that Lothlorien was deserted when she went at around what, yr.100 4th age?
