Aredhel also deserves credit for defiantly overstepping the ethnic and cultural barrier between Calaquendi and Moriquendi in her marriage with Eöl (the bit about her being 'not altogether unwilling' is probably gross understatement on the author's part). Not to forget that without her and her son Gondolin might still have been standing in splendid isolation and boring itself to death at the end of the First Age without even noticing that the War of Wrath ever happened until Beleriand was drowned (imagine their surprise...)
